A few months ago my friend introduced me to the song Oceans by Hillsong United.  I have listened to it sooooo much.  Music has such an amazing ability to speak to my soul.

I now see why it is so key to this current season.  It is easy for us to feel overwhelmed with selling our house, raising money needed to renovate our awesome first permanent church building, needing to get the work done on the church and finding a new home in Durham.

Here are some of the lyrics and how I am clinging to them:

“You called me out upon the waters, the great unknown where feet may fail”– so feeling that.  Felt called to put our house on the market, a huge unknown 🙂

“And there I find you in the mystery of oceans deep”– it is in those unknown, scary places in life when faith is stretched and challenged and I can only hold onto Jesus during this time of floating in the ocean

“And I will call upon your name and keep my eyes above the waves”– in these uncertain times I can only pray and focus on who God is. He is faithful to provide.

“When oceans rise, my soul will rest in your embrace”  As the circumstances around me become stressful, I choose to rest in knowing that God is good and he is faithful to provide for our needs.

“Your grace abounds in deepest waters.  Your sovereign hand will be my guide.”–  We see God work in mighty ways as we trust him with big matters.  I want to have a faith that trusts in big ways.  God will lead and direct us in this adventure.

“Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me”–  we have definitely had lots of fears and still do allow fear to creep in

“You’ve never failed and you won’t start now” God has always been faithful to provide for our needs

“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders”  Borders are safe and protect us, so to be where there are no borders or limits can be scary.  But that is my heart’s cry- to have a solid faith.  We asked God to lead us where our trust is without borders and He is :).  A box has clear boundaries, limitaions, borders.  God is calling me to experience Him out of the box I have put Him in.

“Let me walk upon the waters wherever you may call me”  We feel like He has called us to put our CA house on the market and to buy the new church building and land

“Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander and my faith would be made stronger”  This is definitely not a place that my feet accidentally wander but we had to choose to step into these unknown places.  But I am certain our faith will be made stronger.  Our faith will be increased.  This is a faith adventure.  I cant see miracles happen if I don’t step out in faith in the unknown.  I can’t see Him work mightily if I stay safely on the shore.  I would take adventure over mediocre faith anyday.  Eagerly waiting to see how He provides.
