YOU NEED THIS!!

…. a day off.  When was the last time you took a full 24 hours to rest, enjoy family and God.  A full 24 hours of no obligations, no housework, no chores, nothing that sucks life from you.  But instead you spent that full 24 hours doing what

refreshes you

restores you

refuels you

brings you life and joy

“Because we do not rest, we lose our way.  We miss the compass points that would show us where to go, we bypass the nourishment that would give us succor.  We miss the quiet that would give us wisdom.  We miss the joy and love born of effortless delight.  Poisoned by this hypnotic belief that good things only come through unceasing determination and tireless effort, we can never truly rest.  And for want of rest our lives are in danger.”-  an excerpt from a brilliant book, Scared Rhythms: Arranging our Lives for Spiritual Transformation by Ruth Haley Barton.

A day is such a gift and want to know the coolest thing: it was God’s idea.  That is why it was one of the 10 commandments.(Honor the Sabbath).  He did not just suggest it but commanded it!  He knew we would be workaholics and need to be commanded to chill out and rest.

I write on this alot because I am passionate about it and pray others will experience the same joy that I have through honoring Sabbath(fancy words for taking a full 24 hours off every week).

You can search my blog for rest, sabbath for more.

Do it:  Pick a 24 hr period every week to rest.
