My Theme for 2013

The word I am focusing on this year(first time i have ever done this but i like the idea of it) is DISCIPLINE.

Definition=Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement.

So many things I want to improve on, be more disciplined in:

  • gentleness with my kids
  •  rising early to exercise, pray, and read my Bible and journal it(SOAP-search it on my blog)
  • jogging regularly
  • a predictable, fun schedule for my kids to foster learning and laughing
  • more intentional character training with my kids(read Bible devotions with them, stories that teach virutes, teaching my daughters what it means to be a woman after God’s own heart, etc

I guess these are my new year’s aspirations that I never got around to writing.

A friend asked how she could pray for me and I said “discipline”.  Later that day I wrote discipline on my bathroom mirror to remind me of my focus.

The next morning the preselected verse of the day on my Bible app, youversion, gave me the perfect verse for 2013, Hebrews 12:11,” No discipline is enjoyable while it is hapening-it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.”

A peaceful harvest sounds awesome.  Peace being a mom of 3 kids sounds splendid.  I don’t want little quiet robots on a strict schedule.   I just want to get my junk together so I can get the most out of my day and the time with my family.

Rising early gets some of my stuff done so I devote more time and energy to my family.  So glad it is only March, plenty of time to work on this discipline stuff. 🙂
