25 HARDLY: Day 21- I’m Done

So I drank my water I set out to drink.

I did 15 minutes of Pilates.

I did not walk since I am shooting to do Pilates instead thanks to this inspiring book I read.

Yep I am changing my challenge before I even finish the last one. But it would be silly to keep at something when I feel like I have a better plan for myself.

But what this self imposed challenge has taught me is that it is truly best to try to work on one habit at a time. The one thing I have been consistent with the last few weeks is drinking the water.

I set out to do my own version of what many friends were doing with 75 HARD. I know for me that I need to keep it simple. I also know I need kindness for myself. Juggling it all as a mom is hard enough without me heaping on stress and guilt with an exercise challenge.

I stumbled upon Well to the Core and read it in one night. It was the encouragement I needed. Her gracious approach to health feels like what I need. Here are some of the wise nuggets I received from her book:

  • Grace over guilt
  • progress over perfection
  • Focus on how I want to feel in my body versus how do I want to fix my body. For me I want to feel strong, light and energized
  • Focus on doing at least 15 minutes of Pilates a day
  • Shoot to drink half your weight in water each day
  • Many faithful Pilates students have actually gained an additional inch in height as their spine has lengthened. This is exciting news for this hobbit.
  • good guideline: when I eat, ask is this nourishing my body? Of course always grace. the 80/20 rule helps. Stick to this guideline most of the time

So these are my new goals. I am ditching my last challenge ideas. Though half my weight in water feels daunting so I may shoot to stay drinking 25 ounces. But honestly when I drink the 25, I often end up drinking more. Perhaps I am spurred onto better choices. I have had 2 kidney stones and dr. said that there is no way to prevent them but there are some things to help like drinking 100 ounces a day with a squeeze of lemon in the first 8oz. So lots of water is really important for me.

So new goal/challenge: daily do Pilates (using the Nike Training app since I can not avoid the Lindywell app suggested by her book) and drink 25 ounces of water and hopefully I will keep increasing in my intake.
