This morning I have been thinking though what things in my life feel impossible. I know, doesn’t seem like a great way to start a morning. But this came about as I was listening to a passage in the book of Matthew via my Hallow app. The phrase, “but for God, all things are possible” stood out to me so I started to write out a list of what feels impossible.
Lord,
- it feels impossible that I’d be able to stay home and focus on my work here but with You… all things are possible.
- It feels impossible that we could live off of 1 income in pricey CA but with You…all things are possible
- It feels impossible that I could encourage many via my writing but with You…all things are possible
- It feels impossible that I will ever publish a book let alone the many in my heart waiting to come out but with You…all things are possible
- It feels impossible at times to be a patient, gentle parent but with You…all things are possible
- It feels impossible that this ongoing dental issue will be resolved but with You… all things are possible
- It feels impossible that we’d ever be able to purchase AirBNBS to share with others but with You… all things are possible (as I am now reading through my prayer journal and I am listing some of my “impossible” dreams)
- It feels impossible that 2 estranged family members will reunite after decades of bitterness but with You… all things are possible
- It feels impossible that one day we would be able to give more money away than we keep but with You… all things are possible
- It feels impossible that we will ever get Taylor Swift tickets for our girls but with You… all things are possible π lol
- It feels impossible that anxiety will be a thing of the past for a loved one but with You… all things are possible
Now to list just some of the things that once felt impossible that have since come to pass:
- It felt impossible to plant a church in an unknown place- we had 14 beautiful years in NC leading Story Church
- It felt impossible that we’d be able to survive off one income while I staeyed home with our kids, we not only survived but thrived with often gifts given to us to help us along like paid for vacations, vehicles, scholarships etc.
- It felt impossible to pay for our own wedding as 2 pretty broke college kids but everyone came together and took a piece of it like buying our cake, printing our invitations etc
- It felt impossible to send our oldest to the same private school we went to but the money keeps coming in
- It felt impossible to transition from leading a church to move back home to CA but God kept providing the pieces to the puzzle that we could not see
- It felt impossible that we’d be able to afford a home in California but His provision through the generosity of others keeps making the impossible, possible
- It felt impossible that an estranged family member would be reunited with another member but we have photos of the reunion so it became possible.
- It felt impossible to live daily life without the dark cloud of anxiety but this is very rare now
- It felt impossible that my teen daughter would ever like me again (talking with other moms, 15 is a hard year with moms and daughters). Then last week that same daughter (who is now almost 20 yrs.old) told me how she was encouraging a friend saying, “Mom, I was telling her many things you have told me. I told her she should just come to our house and talk to you.” Thank you Lord for redeeming what felt lost.
So I am believing I will see more of the impossible become possible.
